Practice Good Candle Etiquette: when first lighting your ghost candle be sure to a lot time for the candle to burn for at least one hour or until the wax has melted to the circumference of the container. Wax has memory. Failure to properly burn your candle can cause tunneling. Tunneling can be corrected by using a simple technique. Take a piece of tin foil and tent it around the canister creating a wide teepee or chimney for the smoke and flame to breathe through. Let the candle burn for an hour or two continuing to monitor for safety. This creates an incubator allowing the tunneled wax to even back down. You could also use a hair dryer on the lowest speed setting or a heat gun to warm the canister edge to level the wax. Be mindful of hot wax splatters when using this method. Never let a candle of any brand or design exceed burning times of four hours.
